Kindred Credit Union Continues to be Among “Best for the World”!

Kindred Credit Union (Kindred) has once again been named a 2022 Best for the World B Corp™ in recognition of its exceptional positive impact on its Customers. Best for the World is a distinction granted by B Lab to Certified B Corporations (B Corps) who after evaluation in five impact areas rank in the top 5% of all B Corps in their size group.

Kindred continues to deepen our relationships by serving our members in a values-based way, with an emphasis on farmers, churches, not-for-profit organizations, and Ontarians who want to connect their values and faith with their finances. With products and services aimed at educating and improving their lives, our work with and for our members continues to be a priority. Furthermore, as we live our values every day, we make meaningful impact in our communities through monetary contributions, programs and events, and sharing member testimonials.

Ian Thomas, Kindred’s chief executive officer, says that “Kindred is honoured and humbled to be included once again on the Best for the World list. We’re dedicated to our members and to being a different kind of financial institution.” He adds, “It’s affirming to gain recognition from B Lab, as we seek to more fully live into our purpose.”

Every year, Best for the World recognizes the top-performing B Corps creating the greatest positive impact through their businesses. The full lists are available at bcorporation.net.

“Each Best for the World edition is an opportunity to raise the bar for how businesses can and should operate to create real and lasting positive impact for their workers, customers, communities, and the environment,” said Dan Osusky, Head of Standards and Insights at B Lab Global.

B Corp Certification is granted only to businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.

For Kindred, living up to these high standards is engrained in who we are and how we view our purpose to be cooperative banking that connects values and faith with finances, inspiring peaceful, just, and prosperous communities.
