Kindred sponsors Ontario Living Wage Network’s Employer Program Manager

July 6, 2017 – Kindred Credit Union is pleased to announce our support of Ontario Living Wage Network (OLWN) by funding their first ever Employer Program Manager, who will be responsible for extending the reach of OLWN’s initiative.

Since launching in 2014, OLWN’s core mission has been to help businesses and organizations become certified living wage employers. As every business and organization is different, the process to becoming a living wage employer can take several months. Up until now, OLWN’s efforts have been a side-of-the-desk type job, as their dedicated team across the province all have positions and responsibilities at other organizations.

Tom Cooper, director of the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction and one of the co-founders of the OLWN, noted that, “The volume of requests and inquiries from prospective living wage employers made it clear that an Employer Program Manager was needed.”

Brent Zorgdrager, Kindred’s chief executive officer, shared that, “Kindred is delighted to support the introduction of an Employer Program Manager. It’s a meaningful step in spreading the work and influence of OLWN and another way that we can help inspire peaceful, just, and prosperous communities.”
