Celebrating Brent Zorgdrager

Brent Zorgdrager Retirement

Brent Zorgdrager is retiring from his leadership role as CEO at Kindred Credit Union at the end of the year.

As Brent Zorgdrager prepares to retire at the end of the year, all of us at Kindred would like to thank him for his many contributions and contemplate his legacy.

Brent has provided visionary leadership and a commitment to building the long-term financial sustainability of the credit union, while also ensuring Kindred continues to fulfill its purpose…to connect values and faith with finances inspiring peaceful, just, and prosperous communities.

Under Brent’s leadership, we rebranded to become Kindred Credit Union, a change that is resonating with members and the public as shown through our ongoing growth. In fact, more than 5,000 new members joined during his tenure, bringing total membership to over 22,000, and Kindred’s assets have grown to over $1 billion.

At the same time, Brent has proven that business can be done differently—his leadership in the local Living Wage movement is just one example. The credit union’s ongoing support for the Kindred Charitable Fund is another, in addition to our engagement with likeminded organizations such as the Global Alliance for Banking on Values and Kindred’s certification as a B Corporation™.

Brent played an influential role in the 2010 merger between Meritas (co-owned at the time by Kindred) and Qtrade Financial Group, with the conviction that the sale would expand the impact and extent of SRI beyond Kindred’s membership to all Canadians. In the eight years since the merger, Meritas SRI Funds’ assets have expanded nine fold.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished under Brent’s leadership. We wish Brent all the best in retirement and thank him for his years of dedicated service!

Please join us to pay tribute to Brent and celebrate his career accomplishments!
