Kindred Charitable Fund Announces 2019 Grant Recipients

Aurora House Receives $10,000 Focus Grant

December 21, 2018 — Kindred Credit Union is pleased to announce the Kindred Charitable Fund 2019 grant recipients. After reviewing more than 50 applications, the committee selected 16 organizations that will receive $67,000 in funding this year. All of the successful organizations actively inspire peaceful, just, and prosperous communities.

This year, the $10,000 Kindred Charitable Fund Focus Grant was awarded to Aurora House. Aurora House aims to provide community-based housing and support services to empower victims of human trafficking and help these women, and their children, thrive in society.

Aurora House provides transitional housing for up to seven people. The housing and support services give clients the opportunity to begin to heal from their ordeal and transition towards independent living. During their stay at Aurora house residents also benefit from support services, counselling, vocation and education resource services, and more.

The Kindred Charitable Fund reached a major milestone in 2018, marking $1 million in support for churches and charitable organizations since its inception in 1999. Including the 2019 recipients, a total of 173 groups have benefited from these grants, which have impacted people across southwestern Ontario.
